All the Board members of Kangaroo Island Pure Grain are also shareholders in the company and all are experienced growers with generations of experience in cropping enterprises. Their commitment to sustainable production of premium product is backed by real experience and a detailed understanding of what consumers want and what growers need to produce for those requirements.


Duncan MacGillivray - Managing Director


Duncan MacGillivray was born and raised on a sheep and cattle property just out of Coonawarra, in the south east of South Australia. Mr MacGillivray studied bulk commodity marketing at the University of New South Wales and has managed export operations for a variety of enterprises, including roles as Export Manager (Beef) for Norwest Beef Industries, Export Manager (Grain) for  Charlick Operations, Managing Director(Beverage) for Two Dogs International and Director (Beverage) for Orlando Wyndham.


Mr MacGillivray has served as Board Member of the Premiers Food Council (South Australia) and the Premiers Wine Council (South Australia). He is also a past chairman and current patron of The Hutt Street Centre Foundation in Adelaide, South Australia, a charity supporting the city’s homeless.


Neil Pontifex - Executive Chairman


Neil Pontifex is a grain grower on Kangaroo Island and at Paskeville in South Australia, where his great grandfather first settled and began farming operations 140 years ago. The Paskerville operation is now managed by his sons, representing the fifth generation of this farming family, while Mr Pontifex is focusing on the challenges of building the Kangaroo Island operation and brand. Neil holds a Diploma of Agriculture from Roseworthy Agricultural College (University of Adelaide) and is a life member of the Agricultural Bureau. He has played a critical role in the introduction of Kangaroo Island non-GM grain in overseas markets such as Japan and was an early exponent of precision agriculture methods.


Rodney Bell - Deputy Chairman


Rodney Bell is a fourth generation Kangaroo Island farmer wool, prime lamb, canola, wheat, barley, oats, beans and lentils. Mr Bell is active in the farming community on the island, holding positions with groups such as Agriculture KI, the Kangaroo Island Field Day Committee and the Advisory Board of Agriculture.


Alan Mills - Director


Alan Mills' family moved to Kangaroo Island to manage a property at Parndana in 1994, after farming in the upper south east of South Australia, for 20 years. Mr Mills is a sixth generation farmer, currently producing canola, wheat, oats and lupins using no-till farming practices. The family operation also produces prime lamb and cattle.


 


Graham Walters AM. FCA - Director


Graham Walters is a well-known and highly respected accountant based in Adelaide, South Australia. Graham was awarded member of the order of Australia (AM) in 2005, he is one of South Australia's most experienced chartered accountants (FCA) and is currently the Non-Executive Chair of Westpac in South Australia (since Jan 2002). Graham was Chairman of KPMG South Australia (1990-2001), Director of Elders Limited (2002-2010), financial advisor to Business SA (1995-2002), and is a member of the South Australian National Football league Inc.


Ichiro Nakane - Director


After completing a Bachelor of Law at Hokkaido University, Ichiro Nakane started working for Kanematsu Corporation Tokyo in 1989 where he was first based in the Meat & Marine Products department for 10 years. He then tranferred to Europe where he was the Amsterdam Branch Manager for 2 years before moving back to Kanematsu Toko's Meat & Marine Products department where he was made Section Manager for 5 years and then General Manager for an additional 5 years.


Ichiro Nakane currently lives in Australia where he is the Kanematsu Australia Managing Director and is also a shareholder in Kangaroo Island Pure Grain.
